Organizations that study down syndrome include the Global Down Syndrome Foundation [GDSF], National Down Syndrome Congress, [NDSC] and the National Down Syndrome Society [NDSS]. These organizations provide advocacy and research for those with this genetic disorder. The NDSC holds a national convention every year and develops self advocating leaders, programs, and national awareness. By law, people with down syndrome require an appropriate and free public education. There are also programs that provide money for kids with special needs to go to private school such as the federally funded program Opportunity Scholarship Program [OSP].
